Lapchi “Labchi” is the one of most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Himalaya. Lapchi Kang Range is situated in the eastern part of Nepal on the border with Tibet, at a height of 4850 meters in the vicinity of Gauri Shankar Conservation Area. The land is very remote and need be prepared well logistics. Everything needs to carry on the back of people from Kathmandu including food, camping gears and fire.
The region was introduced to Pilgrims as a special site as early as the 8th century but was brought to light after visit of Milarepa (1040-1123), but before that the Mahasiddha Saraha and Padmasambhava meditated in the caves of Lapchi. Miarepa left his mark in many places, such as footprints and sacred springs. In the centuries that followed many outstanding meditation masters from the Drikung lineage went to Lapchi to advance their practice. Currently, there are retreat centers and monasteries under the supervision of Drikung Kagyu school.
Mt Kailash, Lapchi and Tsari are one of the three holy mountains that are believed to be the holiest among mountains, considered the abode of Chakrasamvara, the powerful meditation deity of Vajraya Tantras. These three Holy Places of Tibet, associated with the body, speech, and mind aspects of Chakrasamvara and Vajravarahi.
Many practitioners who fervently emulated Milarepa meditated in solitary retreats in Lapchi such as Nyo Lhanangpa, Tsang Nyon Heruka, Gyalwa Gotsangpa, Shabkar Tsogdruk Rangdrol and many unnamed great Yogis visited the site and wrote in praise of the site.

Everything about our experience with Shambhala Holidays was positive for our three week Nepal family holiday in December 2019. Our tour organiser Sonam worked with us to develop a three week itinerary that included Kathmandu sightseeing, Pokhara, 5 day Poon Hill Trek, Chitwan National Park and Nagarkot. Sonam met us at the airport and introduced us to the guides for our trip. The guides were professional, friendly, knowledgeable, patient and engaging on the treks.
It was my first trip to Nepal, my friend recommended me to contact Shambhala Holidays (Pema and Sonam). Sonam has fully organized my trip – hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara, transfer, air tickets, permits and mountain trek. Also Sonam helped me to fulfill one more my dream – paragliding. In addition I want to mention my guide Chongnuri. He is a friendly guy who arranged all accommodations and meals on the trek, he did his best to make my journey easier and more comfortable.
