Limi valley Kailash Trek
Limi valley Kailash Trek is another route to approach Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar. This newly opened trek route is one of best route used by pilgrimage as well adventurer who travel to Mount Kailash and Manasarovar. On the trek one can explore beautiful Limi valley with semi nomadic life style of local people and thousands years old Rinchhenling monastery. Journey to holy mount Kailash is revere as the center of the universe by Buddhist, Hindus and Jains. Travel to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar is as pilgrimage proposes for them. Hindus belief a dip at sacred Lake Manasarovar cleanses the sins of lifetime and it is the home of God Shiva. Buddhist beliefs a circuit of holy Mount Kailash scrub the sins of lifetime, 12 circuits permit inner Kora and 108 circuits will guarantee achieve Nirvana. Bonpo Mount Kailash is Yundung Gutsek and for Jains it is where their first leader was enlightened. One can extend the trip to another pilgrimage site Tirthapuri, Guru Gyam monastery and Khuynglung known as Garuda valley. Khyunglung is the ruins capital city of ancient Zhang Zhung Kingdom. Further half day drive we reach to Tholing and Tsaprang. Tholing played vital role to preserve Buddhism in Tibet. Second diffusion of Buddhism started from Tholing and spread all over Tibet. Tsaprang is the capital of ancient kingdom Guge and still we can see the ruins palace of Tsaprang. A day trip to Piyang and Dungkar monastery is also possible.
During Limi valley Kailash Trek, our all group gather in Kathmandu. We visit in Kathmandu UNESCO world heritage sights and fly Kathmandu – Nepalgunj – Simikot. A night we spend in Nepalgunj since flight to Simikot is takes only morning. Simikot is the district headquarter of Humla. We trek a week long to Nepal – China border Hilsa passing through beautiful villages of Chhetri, Thakuri and Buddhist’ communities and villages like Majgaun, Dharapori, Kermi, Jang, Halji (Halzi) and Til. This trek is one of beautiful trekking trail mixture of greenery and arid valley. From Salli Lagna we head toward Tsongsa Khola and cross Nyalu La Pass 4950m. via beautiful Lake Seliman. We continue trek in valley follow the rivers and rocky trails to Tashithang. Next day we visit Jang village and Jang monastery, then continue to Halji or Halzi (Waltse). In Halji we visit Halji village and monastery. Halji’s Rinchhen Ling monastery is built during the second diffusion of Buddhism on the guidance of great translator (Lotsawa) Rinchhen Zangpo with sponsorship of Malla king of Jumla. Rinchhen Zangpo’s life time built 108 monasteries in west Tibet. One of them is Halji monastery, that only lined inside Nepal. Than we continue toward Til village, we camp below the village and visit Til village and Til monastery. Limi valley consist of 3 villages and one village development committee. We trek to Hilsa via Tse Naga Dzong cave and Manepeme camp site. Another optional trip in Limi valley is drive by Truck from Takchi bridge to Lapcha Syar view point and return back. From Lapcha Syar your can have picturesque view of Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar from Nepal. From Hilsa drive to Darchen base camp of Mount Kailash via Purang (Taklakot) and Lake Manasarovar. We make circumambulation (Kora) 3 days round the Mount Kailash and cross the Dolma La pass 5636m. highest pass of entire journey, then we continuous drive toward either to Lhasa capital city of Tibet or Kyirong / Zangmu borderland of Nepal – China.
Limi valley Kailash Trek need well preparation both physically and mentally. Since we are traveling very remote place of the earth. We have to take all camping equipment and food from Kathmandu. Need at least a month advance booking to secure our flight ticket and apply China – Tibet visa approval. We Shambhala Holidays every year organize 10 to 12 groups from this route.
