Kailash Tour via Kyirong

Kailash Tour via Kyirong is going to open from 2017. Kyirong and Kathmandu linked by Pasang Lhamu highway. Now Nepal government improving this high way in propose of both trade and tourist. Kyirong valley 2730m is the lowest part of Tibet. It was very famous in early days on the name of Mangyul, later famed Kyiron “the valley of happiness”. In Tibet only the place plenty of vegetables are growing here, climates are very pleasant throughout the season. It looks like Nepal’s Alpine zone rather than Tibetan high arid plateau. Kodari Zangmu border of Nepal China has been blocked due to the massive earthquake of April 25, 2015. Nepal Government also planning to reopen Kodari Zangmu route and road of Arniko high way is almost complete. But the friendship bridge need to reconstruct. In case Kyirong route is not open than Kodari – Zangmu will reopen again. We gather group in Kathmandu and visit Kathmandu’s historical and cultural sights. Once our visa is ready than drive early morning from Kathmandu to Timure, Rasuwa Ghadi after immigration formalities drive to Kyirong. Or we have another alternate is to stay in Dunche for acclimatization propose before heading to Kyirong. We acclimatize 2 nights in Kyirong or a night in Nepal Dunche and a night in Kyirong depend upon situation and than continue journey to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar. Kailash overland Tour was difficult in early days due to bad road and transport on truck. Now a days Tibet is very good concreted road and travel by luxury deluxe bus. In Tibet we have chance to encounter Tibetan antelopes, wild Ass, wild Yak, wild Dog and Tibetan blue sheep on our drive to Kailash and Manasarovar. We can experience nomadic life style of Drokpa (Nomad) of west Tibet during our journey. West Tibet is the home of Nomads', its refer Chhangthang. Now due to motor-able road in Northern and Southern Changthang; it is very easy to cross north to south and west to east. Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel (1300m)
Upon your arrival at International Airport in Kathmandu; Shambhala Holidays Team will welcome you with scarp (Khada) in Buddhist Traditional way or with flower Mala in Hindu Traditional way and transfer to hotel. We organize evening team meeting and collect original passport and photos for Chinese visa. Overnight stay at Hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu day preparation for Kailash overland Tour (1300m)
After having morning breakfast, we go for half day sightseeing of Pashupatinath and Baudhanath. Pashupatinath stupa offers a great insights into hindu religious highlights. And in the similar way, Boudhanath stupa is an another spiritual buddhist UNESCO world heritage site. In the afternoon we prepare for Mount Kailash Lake Manasarovar Overland Tour. Day 03: Drive to Kyirong (Kerung) (2700m)
We leave Kathmandu early in the morning and drive for 170kms through the beautiful Nepalese countryside to Timure Nepal – Tibet border. After completing the border formalities at both the Nepalese and Chinese immigration posts we drive up to Kyirong city. Shambhala Holidays staff will prepare fresh breakfast, packed lunch and dinner for group and serve daily at usual time with different items and food varieties. Overnight stay at Guesthouse in Kyirong.

Day 04: Rest day in Kyirong (2700m)
We spend our rest of the day in Kyirong (2700m) today in order to acclimatize before heading up higher. Walk around market, rest and acclimatize. Overnight at Guesthouse in Kyirong

Day 05: Drive to Dongba (4500m)
Today we drive over beautiful arid Tibetan land and passing nomad settlement and crossing numerous pass like Thong La if travel from Nyalam way and Jerkyung La if travel form Kyirong those are more than 5000m high. Further, we cross Brahmaputra (Yarlung Tsangpo) river lifeline of millions of people of Tibet and India. Saga biggest nomadic city in the area. Overnight at Guesthouse in Dongba

Day 06: Drive to holy Lake Manasarovar (4550)
Today we drive over beautiful arid Tibetan land and passing nomad settlement like Paryang, Mayum etc. and crossing Mayum La Pass and Dungyun Tso beautiful Lake. Overnight at Guesthouse in Manasarovar Lake

Day 07: Free day at Lake Manasarovar (4550) | Time for extra provisional
Today, we will spent our day at Manasarover, exploring this amazing place. We will visit the picturesque Chiu Monastery on the North West shore of the lake, with the imposing sight of Mount Kailash in the background. Also we enjoy the good views of Mount Gurlamandata in south of Lake Manasarovar and view of Rakshas Lake (Lahang Tso) from a top of Chiu Hill. Overnight at Guesthouse in Manasarovar Lake.

Day 08: Drive to Tarboche and Trek to Dira Phuk Monastery (4800m)
Leaving the Manasarover Lake, we drive for about 35 km towards Mount Kailash base camp Tarboche flagpole; which is marked by a tall pole adorned with prayer flags. This is the starting point for our kora, the 53km trek around the mountain. We walk up the Lha Chu Valley through beautiful green meadows and streams with Mount Kailash towering above us. We follow the river, which enters a narrow canyon with high, steep cliffs and spectacular waterfalls. Continuing up the valley, the North Face of Mount Kailash comes into view before we reach the 13th century monastery at Dira Phuk. Overnight at Guesthouse in Mount Kailash North Face.

Day 09: Trek to Zutul Phuk Monastery (4700m)
Now we leave to the Lha Chu Valley and enter the Dolma Chu Valley, heading up towards a high pass, the Dolma La (5636m). It’s a tough climb to the summit which is festooned with prayer flags but from there it is all downhill to Syabje Dadok and flat walk to Zuthul Phuk Monastery, with views of one of the highest lakes in the world, Gaurikunda Lake (Thukpe Dzingbu), known as the Lake of Compassion. As well as the cave monastery at Zuthul Phuk, there are several meditation caves and another cave containing an image of Jechun Milarepa. Overnight at Guesthouse in Zuthul Phuk

Day 10: Trek to Dzongdud and Drive to Mayumthang (4600m)
On the final day of the kora we cross several streams, and follow an impressive gorge. Along the way we are once again treated to magnificent views of Mount Kailash. We then enter the Dzongdud plain and conclude the Kora in Dzongdud Mani wall and drive to Mayum La Base Camp. Overnight at Guesthouse in Mayumthang / Paryang

Day 11: Drive to Saga (4500m)
Today we continue driving to Saga. Overnight at Guesthouse in Saga.

Day 12: Drive to Kyirong
We again cross the Brahmaputra (Yarlung Tsangpo) River and drive to Nyalam / Kyirong. Overnight at Guesthouse in Kyirong.

Day 13: Drive to Kathmandu
From Kyirong, we head back to Rasuwa Ghadi / Timure, China – Nepal border. We say goodbye to our Tibetan guide and driver and walk to Nepalese Immigration where we meet Shambhala Holidays representatives, after completing the re-entry formalities we continue the drive to Kathmandu which, depends on road and weather conditions. Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 14: Kathmandu
Sightseeing on request | Extra provisional day. Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu

Day 15: Fly back to home
Drive to airport and fly back to home.
